Let’s Get Out Explorers Camp

Explorer Camp is a full-day outdoor day camp for kids ages 6-10 and is based at Great River in Mosier, Oregon. Each week, campers enjoy a fully immersive week in the forest while they play in our Tree Park, create in our Forest Art Studio, and build skills at our archery range.

In addition, each session, children will play nature-based group games while we cultivate a sense of curiosity and wonder in our youngest campers and contribute to our community by participating in a stewardship project. Our days at camp are created with children’s unique sense of wonder in mind.

Each day follows a theme for the week and includes time to explore, drop into creative deep play, move bodies, and quiet time to rest, read stories, and create art.

How do we find our place in a group? What helps us feel connected and welcome? This week focuses on building community through cooperative games, team challenges, and shared creative projects. Calling all crafters! This week focuses on creating with our hands and imaginations, using inspiration from the natural world. Campers will work on a variety of woodland crafts and art projects in our forest classrooms and will come home each day with something they’ve made. Older campers will have the opportunity to learn basic knife skills for whittling and carving, while all children are encouraged to experiment, problem-solve, and express themselves creatively. The week also includes forest exploration, free play, archery practice and games in the Tree Park.

Session 4 Explorer Camp: Quest

What makes an exciting quest? This week, campers will dive into storytelling and imagination as they create, prepare for, and embark on their own forest quest. We’ll explore map-making, ranger skills, and teamwork as campers train for their mission. Along the way, children will play group games, practice archery, and enjoy plenty of free play in the Tree Park. Adventure, creativity, and collaboration guide this week from start to finish.

This week is all about building in the forest! Campers will work together to create kid-sized shelters, tiny shelters for imaginary creatures, and animal homes like dens, nests, and burrows. Through imaginative play and hands-on construction, children will explore how humans and animals shape their environments. Our creative guides will encourage campers to dream up new building projects each day as they collect natural materials, explore the surrounding forest, and play cooperative games.
